Tackling the health problem of snakebite in the African region- RFI

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every four minutes people worldwide die from snake poisoning. This is due to the high cost of treatment, the difficulty of obtaining these treatments and the citizens not knowing the right course of action to follow if you are bitten or poisoned by snakes.

2024 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon

On October 27th, 2024, MSF participated in the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon as a medical provider and co-sponsor of the event. This was an opportunity for MSF to increase our visibility and brand awareness with a key target audience for our fundraising efforts.

We were joined by more than 60 MSF staff and their family or friends, who participated in various race categories. We also hosted an exhibition booth, offering an opportunity to connect with other marathon participants.

MSF OCP’s emergency medical team was on hand to provide vital ambulance and medical services throughout the event. Our dedicated team treated over 100 individuals for minor injuries and responded to 4 serious cases, helping to ensure the safety and well-being of participants.

Multimedia Highlights

From 20th October to 4th November 2024, Eugene Osidiana, the multimedia producer was in Ethiopia to produce visual content for MSF malaria interventions in Oromia. Working with the Ethiopia communication team, they visited the Nekemte and Nedjo districts, where the projects are domiciled, to gather content for social media and a five-minute documentary.

The focus was on the mobile clinics and hospital activities that MSF is engaged in within these regions. In addition to capturing high-quality footage of the MSF operations, they also interviewed several beneficiaries of the mobile clinics and hospital services to highlight the impact of these interventions.
